Vladivostok celebrates the end of WWII in its own manner on May 9 each year. People are proud of their country and once the main parade is over, half of the city walks down the street with signs showing the picture of a lost family member during the war.
The city itself is very western style looking while being surrounded by asian countries. Vladivostok is actually very similar to San Francisco.
