Millions of bricks if not billions. Bhaktapur has several brick factories around the city and I found it very interesting to visit one and to understand how those bricks are made. It is a long and complex process that requires tons of coal and time to bake huge loads of bricks during days & weeks.
Everything here is hand made and except for one type of brick that is pressed by a machine, everything takes time to be done. The heat in the freshly opened baking chambers is impressive. Not an easy job.
