Le Frigo is a former cold storage building that has been transformed into appartments and ateliers for artists. Located in the 13th arrondissement Olympus took us there to try one of their new cams. I actually could hop onto the tour without being registered & booked which was pretty cool. Thanks to the friendly team of the Fnac store of St Lazare I got a second trip for free (and another memory card !).

The place is tagged to every possible extend and hosts a bunch of artists among which Sacha served us as a gentle & polite tour guide. He’s pretty creative and has a nice place to create mostly with wood some relief paintings that are quite affordable. Another painter on the 3rd floor had a huge spot and the light was incredible. He’s been living there for more than 30 years and he got a view over modern buildings that contrasted strangely with the chaos of his painting atelier. Not easy to catch on a shot this one.

On this tour I tried some of the exotic modes of the Olympus cam I got and I actually liked a lot the ‘dramatic atmosphere’ filter that gave great results on the surrounding taggings.

People of le Frigo are currently fighting the city of Paris’ administration that owns the place and wants to change it into another ‘104’ – a place reserved for artists only. Le Frigo has been a mixed building with rents varying from 500 to 2500€ and the inhabitants want to keep it like this. Let’s hope they’ll find a settlement as the place is really something.

Enjoy the pics here.
